Book Drops/Returning Items
Besides returning borrowed items inside the library during open hours, you may also:
• Use the book drop located to the right of the front doors of the library (open 24/7)
• Use the freestanding book drop located at the Cherry Valley Fire Station facility at 4919 Blackhawk Rd (open 24/7)
• Return items at any other public library that is more convenient

Computer Classes
The library offers basic and intermediate computer classes. See our calendar of events for the schedule of upcoming sessions.

Computer Usage
The library offers six computers for children to use and eight for adults. Ten computers have Microsoft Office software available for use. Cherry Valley Library cardholders may use the computers for free. Anyone else is welcome to pay $1.00 for one hour of use. See our Computer Use Policy for details.

Photocopies and printing from the library’s computers cost 15 cents per page for single-sided black/white and 25 cents per page for color or double-sided black/white.

Faxes can be sent anywhere in the United States for 50 cents per page. For international faxes, a $5.00 fee will be added to the per page charge.

Fishing Equipment Lending Library
The library introduced our fishing equipment lending library in July of 2017. We have 15 fishing poles and 12 tackle boxes available for checkout. View more information

Payment for fines, fees, and donations is accepted online with a Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover card through Illinois E-Pay.

Interlibrary Loan
Cherry Valley Library cardholders can request items from any of the seven other libraries in the shared online catalog. If an item needed is not available there, the Interlibrary Loan department can search libraries all over the country. Call the library at 815-332-5161 for details.

Meeting Room Reservations
The Library has four meeting rooms of various sizes that are available for groups, businesses, and individuals to reserve. Please read the Public Meeting Room Policy first, then fill out the Meeting Room Application. See More Information

Non-Resident Library Cards
Anyone who lives outside a public library’s territory and, therefore, does not support a library with their property taxes is eligible to purchase a “non-resident” library card. The price of a non-resident card at the Cherry Valley Public Library is $155.00 per year which is the average amount of library tax paid per household by residents of the library district. Non-residents who purchase a card can enjoy all of the benefits that the library has to offer. Click here for details

Passport Applications
The Library is authorized as an official passport acceptance facility for the U.S. Department of State. Acceptance is by appointment only. Please call the library at 815-332-5161 for more information and to set up an appointment.

Proctoring Services
Library staff may proctor exams for Cherry Valley Library cardholders. Call the library at 815-332-5161 for information and to set up an appointment.

The Library provides free wireless access to the Internet throughout the building for those with laptop computers or mobile devices. There are four available connections (adltpub1, kidspub1, ipad_mobile, and ipad_mobile2) that do not require a password for access.
