Kids' Book Clubs

kindergarten1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Getting Started: Pick up a free 1000 Books Before Kindergarten Reading Log at the Cherry Valley Public Library and start reading. Track Your Reading: Each time you read a book with your child, record it in your reading log. Show Us Your Reading Logs: Each time you and your child reach a 100 book milestone, bring in your reading log and collect your sticker.

Read 1,000 books before kindergarten and your child will receive a free book of his/her very own.


Picture This Book ClubPicture This!

Wednesdays at 4 PM

Ages 3 to 6 years

Meeting dates: April 19

This club focuses on a different picture book author each month. After reading several selections of your choice by the author of the month, the group will meet at the library to talk about the author and complete fun activities related to the author’s books.

The author for April is Bill Martin Jr.

Mother/Daughter Book Club

Mondays at 6 PM
Ages 9 and up


Meeting Dates: April 3, and May 1

Gertie's Leap to GreatnessGrab your mom or favorite female adult. This club reads one selection a month. After reading the book at home, the group will meet at the library to talk about the book and complete an activity.

The book for April is Gertie’s Leap to Greatness by Kate Beasley.


Peace Love BooksRead-to-Me Book Club

For parents and their children ages 2 to 5

Designed for busy parents and their children ages 2-5. Pick up a book log at the library; read 20 books with your child; complete and return the book log. Your child posts his/her name on the Read-To-Me bulletin board and receives a small prize of his/her choice. Turn in book logs up to three times for three prizes by the end of May.
