Monetary Donations – Monetary donations and gifts are always welcome to supplement the Library’s budget. Donations are an investment in the community and will be used to enhance the Library’s collections and services. Financial donations can be made directly to the Cherry Valley Public Library District. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Cherry Valley Public Library District Charitable Fund – Donations may also be sent to the Cherry Valley Public Library District Charitable Fund. This investment account, administered by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois (www.cfnil.org) was created to support the library in its mission of providing reading, recreation, and resource services to its public constituency. The fund is currently designated to provide accelerated monetary growth to be used for future library expansion.

Memorial Gifts – Memorial and honorarium books are ways to remember someone special. These books may be in memory of a deceased loved one, or they may celebrate a special event such as the birth of a child, a birthday, or an anniversary. Donations are used to purchase books or media that then becomes a part of the Library’s collection. The items will bear specialized bookplates memorializing or honoring the designated person. To request such a book, fill out the form in the Memorial Brochure and return it to the Library.

Planned Giving – Planned giving is an effective way to create a lasting legacy for the community and ensure Library services for future generations. Donors should consult an accountant or tax attorney for information on the most effective way to contribute.

Corporate Sponsorships – The Library is pleased to consider sponsorships of programs or events that add value to the community and are aligned with the Library’s mission.

Books and Media Donations – Donations of good, used books and media (DVDs, music CDs, audio books, etc.) are a valuable resource for the Library. Donated materials are sorted and evaluated to determine their best usage. Some materials are processed and catalogued for the Library’s collection. Other items are given to the Friends of the Library for their book sales. The money collected from the book sales is donated to the Library to be used for buying new materials, equipment, and/or furnishings as well as funding programs above and beyond what tax dollars provide. Donated materials may be eligible for a federal tax deduction. Learn more about the Library’s donation guidelines here.
